RELAXATION
RELAXATION IS ONE OF THE "POPULAR" APPROCHES TO STRESS MANAGEMENT, AND MANY OF THE COURSES OR GADGETS BEING SOLD AS CURE-ALLS FOR STRESS ARE VARIATIONS OF RELAXATION, SUCH AS YOGA, MEDITATION, BIOFEEDBACK, HYPNOSIS AND SO ON. THE TROUBLE IS THAT THESE APPROACHES COSIST LARGELY OR ENTIRELY OF PHYSICAL RELAXATION, OR HOW TO RELAX YOUR MUSCLES, YET YOU EXPERIENCE DYSTRESS, ESPECIALLY ITS EMOTIONS, MOSTLY IN YOUR MIND. THERE IS MUSCULAR TENSION COMPONENT OF DYSTRESS FOR MANY PEOPLE ON MANY OCCASIONS, BUT NOT ALWAYS AND EVEN IF THERE IS THIS BODILY COMPONENT IT IS SECONDARY TO THE MENTAL COMPONENT . WE SEE MANY PEOPLE WHO SAY TRY TO RELAX PHYSICALLY OR MAY BE WELL ABLE TO DO SO BUT IT IS NOT ANY HELP BECAUSE THEIR MIND ARE RACING AND HASSLED.

THER SEEMS TO BE NO CONVINCING SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR THE EFFICACY OF RELAXATION- TRAINING, PROBABLY BECAUSE SUCH TRAINING DOES NOT NOTHING ABOUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PERSONS TENSION IN THE FIRST PLACE. MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT RELAXATION TRAINING IS HELPFUL. THOSE WHO ARE SELLING IT TO YOU HAVE AN PBVIOUS VESTED INTEREST IN BELIEVING SO, OR AT LEAST IN GETTING YOU TO BELIEVE IT, WHILE SOME OF THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED IT BELIEVE IT, WHILE SOME OF THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVE RELAXATION- TRAINING WAS HELPFUL BECAUSE IT MADE THEM FEEL GOOD AT THE TIME.
AND THERES THE RUB. AS SO MANY PEOPLE SAY TO US, I FEEL WONDERFUL AT MY YOGA CLASS, BUT ONCE I GO BACK TO WORK, I FEEL TENSE AGAIN. OR I CAN RELAX MY MUSLES FINE, BUT WHEN I DO ALL THAT HAPPENS IS WORRY MORE. A CLEAR EXAPLE OF THIS IS THIS THE FORM OF INSOMNIA WHERE A PERSON WILL TELL US THAT HE CAN RELAX QUITE WELL IN BED, BUT HE CANT SLEEP BECAUSE HE IS WORRYING TOO MUCH. WE BELIEVE THAT EFFECTIVE RELAXATION HAS DOING FOR US...
