THE KUNDALINI AND THE SIX DHARSHANAS

                                        THE KUNDALINI

THE CONCEPT OF KUNDALINI ISN'T MENTIONED ANYWHERE IN THE YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI OR IN THE SANKHYA LITERATURE. WHILE SOME OF THE LATER UPANISHADS NOR THE VARIOUS NATH TEXTS LIKE THE GHERANDA SAMHITA, SHIVA SAMHITA OR EVEN THE HATHA YOGA PRADIPIKA MAKE MUCH OF THE WORD KUNDALINI. THE WORD KUNDALINI APPEARS IN THE YOGA TANTRAS LIKE THE SHAT CHAKRA NIRUPANA AND OTHER WORKS IN TANTRA, INCLUDING THE BUDDHIST TANTRAS WHICH HAVE PREDOMINANTLY SHAKTA LEARNINGS.

                                                                ❤❤❤

                 *   THAT THE THERE ARE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF KUNDALINI BELONGED TO A SECRET GROUP OF SELECTED INDIVIDUALS OF THE TIME AND THEREFORE, IT WASN'T OPENLY AND OVERTLY DISCUSSED.

                                                                ❤❤❤

                 * THAT FOR A PERSON ON A SPIRITUAL EXPLORATION OF THE STUDY, AN AROUSAL OF THE KUNDALINI ISN'T ESSENTIAL.

                                                                 ❤❤❤

                  * THAT EVEN THOSE WHO DON'T DIRECTLY PRACTICE THE SO-CALLED KUNDALINI YOGA HVE THEIR KUNDALINI AROUSED INADVERTENTLY WITH THE EXPERIENCES MENTIONED IN THE YOGA TANTRAS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE EXPERIENCES OF GOPI-KRISHNA OR FOR THAT MATTER, THOSE OF J.KRISHNAMURTI, ALTHOUGH, HE REMAINED SILENT ON THE SUBJECT WHEN QUESTIONED.

                                                                 ❤❤❤

I AGREE WITH ALL THE THREE ABOVE MENTIONED POINTS WHILE I DON'T FULLY AGREE WITH THE SECOND POINT. IT WOULD BE BETTER TO SAY THAT THE KUNDALINI PERHAPS IS AROUSED IN MYSTERIOUS AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE WAYS DURING THE CULMINATION OF THE SPIRITUAL EXPLORATION. REGARDING THE FIRST POINT, THE REASON WHY THE WORD KUNDALINI HAS BECOME SO CHEAP AND MISUSED IS BECAUSE OF THE RANDOM AND FREELY AVAILABLE - OFTEN MISREPRESENTED - EXPOSITIONS WHICH HAVE EVEN GONE TO RIDICULOUS EXTENT OF TEACHERS PROMISING TO AROUSE THE KUNDALINI IN A FIXED TIME FOR A FEE.

FOR THOSE WHO NEED A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF THE THEORY OF THE KUNDALINI AND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE CHAKRAS OR CENTRES THROUGH WHICH THE KUNDALINI ASCENDS AND DESCENDS IN THE HUMAN FORM, THERE IS NO BETTER THAN THE SHAT CHAKRA NIRUPANA TRANSLATED BY ARTHUR AVALON AS THE SERPENT POWER.SHAT-CHAKRA-NIRUPANA AND PADUKA-PANCHAKA, THOUGH IT MUST BE MENTIONED THAT THE PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE LEARNT FROM QUALIFIED TEACHER.

TO SUM UP, KUNDALINI, OR KULA KUNDALINI AS IT IS MENTIONED IN THE YOGA TANTRAS IS THE PRIMORDIAL ENERGY, THE SOURCE OF ALL CREATION, CALLED PRANA SHAKTI THAT-AFTER HAVING DONE ITS WORK-RESTS IN THE MULADHARA AT THE END OF THE SPINE IN ALL HUMAN BEINGS AND IS INTIMATELY LINKED TO THE LIBIDO. IN NON-YOGIS, IT IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF SEXUAL AROUSAL, THE ECSTASY THAT FOLLOWS AND THE BIOLOGICAL CREATION OF A NEW HUMAN BEING. FOR THE YOGI, IT IS THE SAME ENERGY WHICH WHEN CONTROLLED AND SUBLIMATED ASCENDS THE CENTRES OF CONSCIOUSNESS ALONG THE SPINE TILL IT MERGES IN THE MALE COMPONENT CALLED SHIVAM IN THE THOUSAND-PETALLED LOTUS, THE CROWN CENTRE CALLED THE SAHASRARA CHAKRA. THE TEACHINGS FOR THIS PROCESS CAN ONLY BE LEARNT FROM AN ADEPT TEACHER AND THE RESULTS CAN HAPPEN GENERALLY ONLY WITH CONSTANT AND PERSISTANT PRACTICE FOR AN EXTENTED PERIOD OF TIME.
