YOGA POSTURES ARE BENEFICIAL FOR OVERALL HEALTH, STRENGTH, FLEXIBILITY AND BALANCE. THEY KEEP THE BODY DISEASE FREE. ONE SHOULD NOT DO TOO MANY OR TOO LESS EXERCISES RATHER EXERCISES SHOULD BE DONE IN MODERATE AMOUNT. A STEADY POSTURE HEPS IN CONTROLLING NERVOUS SYSTEM AND IMPROVES BLOOD CIRCULATION. IT HELPS IN CONTROLLING EMOTIONS, CALMING THE MIND AND AND CONCENTRATING ON GOD WITH FAITH. IT HEPS IN BALANCING ONE'S MATERIAL WORLD AND SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE.



                         WITH A STEADY POSTURE, ONE EASILY OVERCOME THE BODY DISTURBANCE LIKE THIRST, HUNGER AND EVEN CRAWLING OF INSECT ON THE BODY. IF BODY IS NOT MOVING THEN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM GETS DISTURBED AND ONE IS NOT ABLE TO CONCENTRATE HOW HARD ONE MAY TRY.

                        WITH OPEN EYES ONE PERCEIVES A LOT OF MOVEMENT OF SUBJECTS AND OBJECTS. THEREFORE, A BEGINNER SHOULD CLOSE HIS EYES. ALTHOUGH STILL OBJECTS CAN STIR MIND TO A GREAT EXTENT YET WITHDRAWING OF MIND FROM DISTRACTIONS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

             IN YOGA SUTRAS, THE SAGE PATANJALI COMPILED ASHTANGA YOGA WHICH LITERALLY MEANS EIGHT LIMBS" (AHTA-EIGHT, ANGA-LIMB). THESE EIGHT PROGRESSIVE STEPS ARE GUIDELINES TO PURIFY BODY AND MIND WHICH ULTMATELY LEAD TO SELF REALIZATION. THEY HELP ONE TO LIVE A MEANINGFUL, PURPOSEFUL AND PEACEFUL LIFE AND THEY GUIDE ONE TO GROW SPIRITUALLY . THE EIGHT STEPS OF THE LADDER ARE YAMA, NIYAMA, ASANA, PRANAYAMA, PRATYAHARA, DHARANA, DHYANA AND SAMADHI. THE FIRST FIVE ARE CALLED BAHIRANGA SADHANA I.E. EXTERNAL AIDS TO YOGA. AND THE REST HELP ONE TO GROW INTERNALLY AND ARE KNOWN AS ANTARANGA SADHANA.







                        YAMA :       YAMA MEANS ABSTENTION. IT DEALS  WITH ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR THAT ONE SHOULD HAVE TOWARDS PEOPLE AND THINGS OUTSIDE ONE'S BODY. IT CAN ALSO BE DESCRIBED AS UNIVERSAL MORTALITY. IT IS THE FIRST STEP OF THE LADDER TO ENLIGHTENMENT AND IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL. IN SHORT IT IS DESCRIBED AS "ONE AS SHOULD TREAT OTHERS AS ONE WOULD LIKE OTHERS TO TREAT ONESELF".  THE FIVE YAMAS ARE AHIMSHA (NON VIOLENCE) SATYA (TRUTHFULNESS), ASTEYA (NON STEALING), BRAHMACHARYA (CONTINENCE) AND APARIGRAHA (NON CONVETOUSNESS). THEY ARE BASIC STEPS TO CHANGE HUMAN NATURE TO DIVINE NATURE. THEY REMOVE NEGATIVE TRAITS LIKE CRUELTY, STEALING, VIOLENCE AND HARSHNESS. THEY FILL THE HEART WITH KINDNESS, LOVE AND PURITY. THESE SHOULD BE PRACTISED BY ALL IRRESPECTIVE OF AGE, RACE, POSITION, TIME OR NATION.







                     AHIMSA: AHIMSHA LITERALLY MEANS NOT TO INJURE ANY LIVING BEING WITH ACTIONS, WORDS OR THOUGHTS, IT IS SUPREME LOVE - LOVE FOR ALL HUMAN BEINGS AND OTHER LIVING ORGANISM IN THE WORLD. AHIMSHA MEANS NOT TO SHOW CRUELTY TO ANY LIVING BEING IN ANY WAY AND IN ANY SITUATION ACCORDING TO MAHATMA GANDHI, "WHEN A PERSON CLAIMS TO BE NON VIOLENT, HE IS EXPECTED NOT TO BE ANGRY WITH ONE WHO HAS INJURED HIM. HE WILL NOT WISH HIM HARM. HE WILL WISH HIM WELL. HE WILL NOT SWEAR AT HIM, HE WILL NOT CAUSE HIM ANY PHYSICAL HURT. HE WILL PUT UP WITH ALL THE INJURY TO WHICH HE IS SUBJECTED TO BY THE WRONGDOER" THUS NON-VIOLENCE IS COMPLETE ABSENSE OF ILL-WILL AGAINST ALL LIVING BEINGS. IT THEREFORE EMBRACES EVEN SUB-HUMAN LIFE NOT EXCLUDING NOXIOUS INSECTS OR BEASTS. IT MEANS KINDNESS AND FRIENDLINESS FOR EVERYONE. IN EVERY SITUATION ONE HAS TO BE CONSIDERATE AND NOT HARM ANY CREATURES ON THIS EARTH.







                          MAHATMA GANDHI TAUGHT THE WORLD, "WHEN THERE IS NO DESIRE FOR FRUIT, THERE IS NO TEMPTATION FOR UNTRUTH OR HIMSA. TAKE ANY INSTANCE OF UNTRUTH OR VIOLENCE, AND IT WILL BE FOUND THAT AT ITS BACK WAS THE DESIRE TO ATTAIN THE CHERISHED END". IBE SGIYKD STOP PHYSICAL , SPEAKING  HARSH WORDS AND NEGATIVE, HARMFUL AND DESTRUCTIVE THINKING IMMEDIATELY. VIOLENCE AGITATES ONE'S MID WHEREAS NON VIOLENCE CALMS ONE'S MIND.



                      SATYA - SATYA MEANS TRUTHFULNESS IN ACTION, WORD AND THOUGHT, IT MEANS HONEST COMMUNICATION.










              ONE SHOULD BE HONEST AND TRUTHFULNESS IN ONE'S ACTION.


              ONE SHOULD BE TRUTHFULNESS IN WORDS THAT ONE SPEAKS.



               ONE SHOULD SAY WHAT ONE THINKS. IT IS THE TRUTHFULNESS IN THOUGHTS. SOME BUSINESSMEN MAINTAIN TWO SEPARATE ACCOUNTS. ONE FOR BLACK MONEY AND THE OTHER FOR WHITE MONEY. THE INCOME AND EXPENDITURES OF BOTH ACCOUNTS ARE KEPT SEPARATELY. THEY HIDE ONE FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND REVEAL THE OTHER. IF BUSINESSMAN ACCOUNT. IN THE SAME MANNER IF ONE LIES THEN THE MIND HAS TO MAINTAIN ONLY ONE TYPE OF ACCOUNT. ONE FOR TRUTH AND OTHER FOR LIES. TWO DIFFERENT SECTIONS IN MIND MEAN MORE NUMBER OF THOUGHTS. ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS WILL REQUIRE MORE TIME AND ENERGY TO STILL THE MIND. HENCE, SPEAK THE TRUTH". 



                      ASTEYA - ASTEYA MEANS "NON-STEALING" AND NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO ONE. ONE SHOULD RESIST THE DESIRE TO ACCEPT THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO ONE.







                        ONE SHOULD NOT DESIRE MORE THAN REQUIRED IF IT ONE'S OWN. GLUTTONY IS STEALING OF FOOD EVEN IF ONE CAN PAY FOR THAT. HOARDING MONEY IS ALSO STEALING EVEN THOUGH ONE HAS EARNED IT HONESTLY. IT ALSO MEANS NON COVETOUSNESS.

ONLY THEN ONE WILL PROGRESS ON SPIRITUAL PATH. THE EASIEST WAY TO CONTROL ASTEYA IS "I HAVE ALL I NEED".



                      BRAHMACHARYA - HERE BRAHMACHARYA MEANS TO USE ONE'S SEXUAL ENERGY TO REGENERATE ONE'S CONNECTION TO ONE'S SPIRITUAL SELF.                        I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS AND YET I AM AFRAID OF THEM.  WHEN I AM ALONE IN THE NIGHT, IF FEEL THAT THEY ARE THERE AND THEY WANT TO SPEAK TO ME....




                        IN FACT, YOU DENY THINGS WHICH YOU ARE AFRAID. YOUR DENIAL SIMPLY SHOWS YOUR FEAR. YOU SAY, I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS. IF YOU REALLY DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS. THEN FROM WHERE CAN THE FEAR COME? THEN WHY SHOULD YOU BE AFRAID? FOR WHAT? BUT YOUR DISBELIEF IS NOTHING BUT A WAY OF HIDDNG YOUR FEAR.

                           REMEMBER: YOUR BELIEF IS OUT OF FEAR, YOUR DISBELIEF IS OUT OF FEAR. IF YOU LIVE IN FEAR, WHATSOEVER HAPPENS TO YOU IS GOING TO HAPPEN OUT OF FEAR. I SEE RELIGIOUS PEOPLE GOING TO THE TEMPLES AND THE MOSQUES AND THE CHURCHES OUT OF FEAR, AND I SEE ATHEISTS DENYING GOD OUT OF FEAR. IF I LOOK DEEPLY I DON'T SEE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THEIST AND THE ATHEIST. THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME REACTING DIFFERENTLY, BUT THE SITUATION IS THE SAME AND FEAR IS THE SAME. THEIR DIFFERENCE ARE ONLY SUPERFICIAL.







                          IN EACH ATHEIST THE THEIST IS HIDDEN. AND IN EACH THEIST THE ATHEIST IS HIDDEN THAT'S WHY IT IS SO EASY TO CONVERT THEM. 



                        THESE ARE NOT REALLY TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. 







                         YOU SAY, I DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS...

                        YOU BELIEVE. YOU ARE SIMPLY TRYING TO DECEIVE YOURSELF. HENCE THE FEAR. YOU KNOW THAT WHEN YOU ARE ONE IN THE NIGHT THEY ARE THERE. BUT YOU ARE UNNECESSARILY AFRAID OF POOR GHOSTS. COMPARED TO HUMAN BEINGS, THEY ARE VERY INNOCENT PEOPLE. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF ANY GHOSTS TURNING INTO AN ADOLF HITLER? OR CHENGHIS KHAN OR TAMURLANG? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF GHOSTS CREATING HIROSHIMA, NAGASAKI, PREARING FOR THE THIRD WORLD WAR? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF GHOSTS DOING ANY HARM? THEIR HARM, IF SOMETIMES YOU HEAR SOME STORIES, IS MORE OR LESS TRIVIAL SMALL THINGS.






                     I HAVE HEARD ABOUT ONE YOUNG GHOST. THE YOUND GHOST GOT VERY SCARED WHEN HIS FRIENDS TOLD HIM TOO MANY HUMAN STORIES. 



                      AND I HAVE ALDO HEARD. THEN THERE WAS THE GHOST WHO DID NOT BELIEVE IN PEOPLE.

                        THEY ARE ALSO AFRAID OF YOU. AND YOU SAY, YOU ARE AFRAID THAT WHEN YOU ARE ALONE IN THE NIGHT I FEEL THAT THEY ARE THERE AND THEY WANT TO SPEAK TO ME...



                       I HAVE ALSO HEARD. THE FATHER GHOSTS TOLD HIS SON, SPOOK ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SPOKEN TO....

                     SO, TO ME, THOSE THINGS ARE IRRELEVANT. FEAR IS THE BASIC THINGS. WHY IS MAN AFRAID? DON'T GO INTO REASONS CAUSES AND EXPLANATIONS GO DIRECTLY INTO THE FEAR. SO NEXT TIME WHEN YOU ARE ALONE IN THE ROOM, JUST CLOSE THE EYES GO INTO YOUR FEAR. DON'T BOTHER ABOUT GHOSTS JUST GO INTO THE FEAR. TREMBLE IF TREMBLING COMES, BUT DON'T FIND ANY EXPLANATION THAT YOU ARE TREMBLING BECAUSE OF THE GHOSTS. THAT IS JUST AN EXPLANATION TO EXPLAIN AWAY THE FEAR JUST GO INTO TREMBLING. TREMBLE FOR NO REASON AT ALL. IF YOU FEEL LIKE SCREAMING, SCREAM FOR NO REASON AT ALL BUT GO INTO THE FEAR ITSELF. DON'T BRING ANYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN YOU AND THE FEAR. THAT IS A TRICK OF THE MIND. AND IF YOU CAN GO DEEP DOWN INTO THE FEAR, YOU WILL BE SURPRISED. THE DEEPER YOU GO, THE MORE AND MORE FEAR DISSIPATES, DISAPPEARS. AND WHEN YOU TOUCH THE VERY CORE, THE VERY BOTTOM CORE OF IT, IT HAS DISSAPEARED. YOU ARE SIMPLY THERE, UTTERLY SILENT. THERE IS NO GHOSTS THERE, EVEN YOU ARE NOT THERE. ALL IS SILENT, UTTERLY SILENT, ABSOLUTELY SILENT. THAT SILENCE IS JOY, THAT SILENCE IS FEARLESSNESS.
