                  WHILE MOST SELF-TALK IS EITHER UNCONSCIOUS OR GOES UNNOTICED, SOME SELF-TALK IS GLARINGLY OVBIOUS, AND, NOT SURPRISINGLY, CLEARLY, SELF-DEFEATING. ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE SELF-TALK PEOPLE USE IS CONSTRUCTIVE AND BENEFICIAL, MOST OF IT IS THE OPPOSITE - THE KIND OF SELF-TALK THAT IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE AND SELF-DEFEATING.


                   FOR A PERIOD OF TIME DURING MY QUEST FOR A MORE PRACTICAL PATH TO LASTING SELF-IMPROVEMENT, TO SEE JUST HOW PERVASIVE NEGATIVE SELF-TALK MIGHT BE, EACH TIME I HEARD AN EXAMPLE OF THIS KIND OF SELF-TALK, I WROTE IT DOWN.                   IF EVERTHING YOU TELL YOURSELF ABOUT YOURSELF BECOMES A DIRECTIVE TO YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, THEN ANYTIME YOU MAKE A STATEMENT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT IS NEGATIVE, YOU ARE DIRECTING YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND TOMAKE YOU BECOME THE PERSON YOU JUST DESCRIBED - NEGATIVELY.

                     IT IS IN THE CRISIS THAT THE LEADER DEMONSTRATES HIS COMPETENCE. IN TIMES OF CRISIS, THE LEADER BECOMES CALM, COOL, OBJECTIVE, AND COMPLETELY IN CONTROL.
